PVTIME – On 28 July 2023, GCL System Integration Technology Co., Ltd. (GCLSI, 002506.SZ), a leading one-stop renewable energy service provider, formally launched the first 10GW phase of its 20GW N-type high-efficiency cell manufacturing project. This project is based in the Wanzhi district, Wuhu City of China, and it significantly expands GCLSI’s footprint in N-type cells. Cell production capacity is also strengthened at the module manufacturing sites in Hefei and Funing, and it plans to achieve full production capacity in the fourth quarter of this year.
GCLSI aims to establish a fully digital and intelligent research and development facility for high-efficiency photovoltaic cells. The n-type modules exhibit an efficiency of over 22% and will be manufactured with an investment of 1.12 billion US dollars.
Construction of the project commenced in February 2023. In July, the first batch of cells was manufactured using the latest N-type high-efficiency cell technology and the world’s most advanced automated cell production equipment. Once the manufacturing base in Wuhu City is completed, n-type high-efficiency cells will make up 87% of the company’s cell production capacity.
