PVTIME – A large-scale integrated HJT production base was recently signed in Leshan City, Sichuan Province, China.
The new factory will be located in the High-Tech District of Leshan City, with a total investment of 9 billion yuan (approximately US$1.28 billion), and is planned to produce 10GW of HJT and modules per year, with an output value of 20 billion yuan (approximately US$2.852 billion), making it the largest solar cell manufacturing base for HJT in China. It is also expected to lead the investment of related materials and products in the entire supply chain, with an output value of more than 10 billion yuan.
Leshan City, known as “China’s Green Silicon Valley”, is an important city for green and low-carbon industries in Sichuan Province. The unique local hydropower resources support the development of the photovoltaic industry.
In recent years, many of the leading PV manufacturers have chosen Leshan City to expand their production, such as GCL’s 100,000 tonnes granular silicon project, Yongxiang’s 200,000 tonnes high purity crystalline silicon project, as well as a large number of PV-related enterprises, forming a complete industrial chain including silicon material, silicon wafer, cell and module. The output value of crystalline silicon photovoltaic in Leshan City grew from 6.85 billion yuan to 78.46 billion yuan from 2020 to 2023, an increase of more than 10 times.
