PVTIME – On March 31, Tongwei Co.,Ltd.(600438.SH) announced on an Investment Agreement on high-efficiency silicon solar cell project signed by Tongwei Solar Energy Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Tongwei, and the Meishan Management Committee of Tianfu New District, Sichuan Province, China.
The project will be located in Qinglong Street, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, with an estimated total investment of 12 billion yuan. The project is planned to be implemented in two phases. The Phase I is expected to be put into production by the end of December 2023, with an annual output of 16GW solar cells and an investment of 6 billion yuan. The Phase II of the another 16GW solar cells will be launched according to the agreement and the market condition.
Tongwei stated that the new project is expected to fulfill part of the development goals of the company by further expand the production scale of its high-efficiency silicon solar cell, to benefit the company as well as the local economy and environment via this clean energy project.
