PVTIME – Wuxi Shangji Automation Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Shangji Automation) (603185.SH) announced on 5 April 2023 that it intends to launch a solar module project in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, China.
The project is designed to produce 16GW of solar modules per year and will be completed in two phases with a total investment of 5 billion yuan. The first phase will start very soon and reach a production capacity of 5GW of solar modules in the third quarter of 2023, with an investment of 1.5 billion yuan. A further 3.5 billion yuan will be invested in the second phase, which will reach an annual production capacity of 11GW of modules.
The new investment is important for the company to start solar module production, as it has been a silicon material supplier since 2019. Once the solar module project is operational, the company plans to expand its production capacity to cover the four main segments of the PV industry chain, namely silicon, wafers, cells and modules, forming an integrated PV supply chain.
