2.598 Billion Yuan! Solar and Wind Farms to Be Added by Coal Giant in China

PVTIME – On 11 July 2024, Guizhou Panjiang Refined Coal Co.,Ltd.(600395.SH), a China-based company principally engaged in the mining, processing and sale of coal products, announced its plan to build solar and wind power plants through subsidiaries with a total investment of 2.598 billion yuan.

According to the announcement, a solar power plant with an installed capacity of 522.4MW, a wind power plant with a capacity of 100MW and another wind power plant with a capacity of 50MW will be built in Guizhou Province in China, with investments of 1.773 billion yuan, 546 million yuan and 279 million yuan respectively. A total of 2.598 billion yuan will then be invested in 672.4MW of renewable energy generation projects.

This is an important step for the coal giant, which operates fossil fuel power plants, in its transition to renewable energy. When all the above projects are completed, it is expected that 239,000 tonnes of standard coal will be saved and 651,700 tonnes of carbon dioxide, 65.65 tonnes of sulphur dioxide and 105.19 tonnes of nitrogen oxides will be reduced each year.
