200,000MT Silicon Project Started by Tongwei in Inner Mongolia, China

PVTIME – On 5 November 2024, Tongwei, the leading silicon material and solar module manufacturer, announced that the third phase of its silicon material production project has been launched and will gradually reach full capacity of 200,000MT per year.

Meanwhile, it has completed the upgrade of all PERC production lines, although some production lines are still in the debugging stage.

In addition, its 25GW TNC solar cell factory in Shuangliu, Sichuan Province has been gradually put into production, and its n-type solar cell capacity is expected to exceed 100GW by the end of 2024.

For the overseas market, Tongwei said that the current global silicon wafer production capacity is mainly in China, and its silicon materials are mainly supplied to downstream solar wafer manufacturers with long-term partnership in China. In the past two years, its overseas module shipment growth rate is significantly higher than the industry average, while in 2024, its monthly overseas module exports have gradually increased to about 10% of the total amount.
