PVTIME – The first phase of a silicon wafer factory was recently approved by the local government in Sichuan Province, China. The new factory was initiated by Zhongwei New Energy, a subsidiary of Tongwei Solar, the leading solar module manufacturer.
The first phase of this particular factory will be located in Chengdu City, Sichuan, with a total investment of 700 million yuan, it is planned to produce 20GW of 182mm*210mm monocrystalline wafers per year, new production lines will be added in Tongwei Solar’s workshops, with upgraded slicing workhouses. The construction period will be from November 2024 to September 2025.
