PVTIME – Recently, Kunshan GCL Photoelectric Materials Co., Ltd. (GCL Perovskite), a subsidiary of GCL Tech, a technology company that develops and manufactures commercial perovskite solar modules, announced that it has achieved a high photoelectric conversion efficiency of 22.43% on its large 2048cm2 single-junction perovskite solar module. The result was verified by the China National Institute of Metrology.
There are a number of problems in the scale-up process for perovskite solar cells and modules in mass production. Compared to small perovskite solar modules in the laboratory, the conversion efficiency of large modules in mass production often drops significantly due to the uneven distribution of defects.
GCL Perovskite’s R&D team has creatively designed a technical solution that achieves a comprehensive optimisation of module performance by not only reducing the series resistance of large area perovskite modules, but also significantly reducing the non-radiative compound loss. As a result, the fill factor (FF) of the 2048cm2 large area perovskite monojunction module was successfully increased to 82.30% and the efficiency to 22.43%, both of which set new world records.
