PVTIME – SolaEon Technology Co., Ltd.(SolaEon), a leading Chinese manufacturer of new generation solar cells, has recently achieved a world record conversion efficiency of 29.34% for monolithic full perovskite tandem solar cells.
The new breakthrough was jointly achieved by SolaEon and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It is 0.24% higher than the previous world record conversion efficiency of 29.1% for the same type of perovskite cells.
Although the potential of monolithic all-perovskite tandem solar cells is huge, it is still a long way from commercialisation. Compared with single-junction cells, all-perovskite tandem cells require precise control of the properties of two layers of calcite, which involves optimisation of a complex material formulation system and higher demands on material stability and the preparation process.
SolaEon is confident about the future of monolithic full perovskite tandem solar cells and has acquired a large amount of processing technology. It plans to expand its perovskite cell production line with a capacity of 150MW to promote the mass production and commercialisation of monolithic all-perovskite tandem solar cells in the industry.
