PVTIME – On 16 February 2025, Risen Energy Co., Ltd. (Risen Energy), a leading company primarily engaged in the research, development, manufacture and sale of grid-connected PV power generation systems, announced its new achievement in the research and development of perovskite and HJT tandem solar cells. A power conversion efficiency of 30.99% was achieved by Risen Energy’s R&D institution, and the result was confirmed by the China National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Solar Photovoltaic Products Quality (CPVT).

As a leading solar module manufacturer in China, Risen Energy believes that HJT solar cells with unique structure and features are promising products among p-type and n-type single junction solar cells.
And HJT’s advantages are tremendous in perovskite and silicon tandem solar cells, making it naturally suitable as a base for tandem cells. HJT is undoubtedly the best bottom cell for crystalline silicon and perovskite tandem cells. Other types of crystalline silicon cells, due to the lack of ITO film, require redesign of the structure prior to tandem processing, which undoubtedly increases cost and complexity.
Dr Yang Bochuan, Director of Risen Energy Research Institute, said that the R&D team will continue to focus on innovative HJT technology to promote the mass production of solar products with high cost-effectiveness and ultra-low carbon content. The perovskite tandem solar cells with a power of 850W or more are planned to be delivered in 2027.
In addition, Risen Energy plans to promote the HJT module power to 740W and the cell power conversion efficiency to 26.8% in 2025, then the next target is 760W. Through continuous technological innovation and iteration, Risen Energy has not only made significant progress in the field of high-efficiency solar cells, but also led the accelerated development of HJT+ technology, providing a powerful impetus for the green and sustainable development of the global photovoltaic industry.
