PVTIME – On 6 January 2025, JinkoSolar was pleased to announce a high power conversion efficiency of 33.84% for perovskite silicon tandem solar cell based on its proprietary n-type TOPCon. The new achievement was confirmed by the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Jinko’s R&D team is very pleased to have again achieved the highest conversion efficiency of 33.84%, following the recent breakthrough of 33.24% achieved in less than a year on a similar perovskite tandem cell. This is the 27th time that Jinko has broken the world record for conversion efficiency or performance of solar cells and modules.
As one of the world’s largest and most innovative solar module manufacturers, to improve the conversion efficiency of TOPCon perovskite tandem cells, continuous research and in-depth development have been carried out, including full-area passivation contact technology, perovskite interface defect composite passivation, bulk phase defect passivation technology and other material and technology innovations.
According to Jinko, the result also demonstrates the perfect integration of TOPCon cells as a mainstream PV product and next-generation perovskite tandem cells, opening up new opportunities for the future development of the PV field.
Dr Jin Hao, CTO of Jinko Solar, commented: “Thanks to our continuous investment in R&D and relentless pursuit of excellence, we have once again achieved a major breakthrough in solar cell efficiency. This milestone not only strengthens our confidence in achieving further technological breakthroughs, but also demonstrates JinkoSolar’s strong determination and capabilities to drive the global energy transition and build a green and sustainable future”.
