4.3GW TOPCon and PERC Factory Launched by TP Solar in India

PVTIME – In January 2025, Tata Power subsidiary TP Solar’s 4.3GW cell and module factory in Tamil Nadu, south-east India, became operational.

TP Solar has invested nearly £4.3 billion in the plant, which is currently the largest single solar manufacturing facility in India. Prior to the commissioning of the new plant, TP Solar’s manufacturing facility in the Indian state of Karnataka had an annual module production capacity of 682MW and an annual cell production capacity of 530MW.

The new plant will produce TOPCon and PERC products, ALMM certified modules and DCR modules using Indian-made cells. Both TOPCon and PERC products play an important role in the current global photovoltaic market and the product layout of the new plant is expected to meet the demand for high efficiency solar products in the Indian and global markets.
