PVTIME – Solatio, a Spanish solar energy provider, has entered into a memorandum of understanding agreement with the Piauí state government to develop a large-scale solar power plant in Brazil.
This new clean energy facility, with an installed capacity of 4GW, will be located in Bom Princípio do Piauí. It is designed to supply solar power for the production of hydrogen in Parnaíba.
Construction of the project is scheduled to commence in 2025, with an investment of approximately $1.94 billion, making it the largest solar power plant in Brazil.
In recent years, Brazil has been increasing the installed capacity of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects across the country, as evidenced by imports of solar modules. Last year, Brazil imported 17.5GW of modules.
