PVTIME – Indian photovoltaic company Waaree Energies Limited has announced that its 5.4GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Gujarat has started trial production on 6 January 2025.
Waaree Energies said it is currently the largest PV module manufacturer in India. As of 30 June 2024, the company’s PV module manufacturing capacity was 13.3GW across five manufacturing plants in Chikhli, Surat, Tumb and Nandigram, all in Gujarat.
Waaree Energies has been in the solar cell business since October 2022, with plans to set up 5.4GW of solar cell capacity. It also plans to set up a 2GW PV module plant in the US and expand it to 5GW.
