50GW! Trina Solar Kicks Off Wafer Project in Jiangsu Province of China

PVTIME – On 16 August 2023, Trina Solar, a leading global module manufacturer, and the People’s Government of Huai’an City held a ceremony to start the construction of a monocrystalline wafer production project with an expected production capacity of 50GW per year.

In order to develop the upstream and downstream industrial chain, expand the business layout and form industrial aggregation, the two sides had started cooperation in the production of PV products with a total investment of 20 billion yuan since September 2022. In April 2023, Trina Solar had invested 5 billion yuan in a new project to produce new generation high-efficiency photovoltaic cells with an expected production capacity of 10GW. And this particular project was signed on 20 July 2023 to achieve an annual output value of 30 billion yuan after commissioning.

When fully completed and put into operation, all projects in Huai’an City are expected to generate an annual output value of approximately 80 billion yuan and pay taxes of more than 1.5 billion yuan, forming Trina Solar’s largest integrated silicon wafer, cell and module manufacturing base.
