6GW Cell + 3GW Module! JA Solar Plans Factory in Oman

PVTIME – On 19 December 2024, JA Solar, a leading manufacturer of high-performance photovoltaic products, announced its plan to build a large-scale solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Sohar Free Trade Zone, Oman, with a total investment of 3.957 billion yuan (approximately US$542.109 million).

To achieve an annual production capacity of 6GW of solar cells and 3GW of modules, it is planned to set up a joint venture with other shareholders for the project. And the project will be implemented in phases, the schedule will be adjusted in a timely manner according to the internal and external operating environment.

This is an important step for JA Solar to expand its global development and sales channels. The company’s overseas sales have increased, accounting for more than 50% of its global business. With the continuous growth of overseas market demand, and at the same time by the impact of international trade protection policies, the company’s overseas production capacity layout needs are increasingly urgent.
