PVTIME – On October 24, GCL System Integration Technology Co., Ltd. (GCLSI), a leading photovoltaics (PV) company in China, disclosed that it has reached an agreement with the People’s Government of Wanzhi District of Wuhu City, Anhui Province of China, mainly on the construction of 20GW solar cell production base, with a total investment of 8 billion yuan.
The local government will make the land ready for the construction of the P1 by October 31, 2022, and then prepare another land for the following project. According to the progress of this solar cell project, relevant supporting enterprises, including but not limited to photovoltaic silver and aluminum paste, solar cell plate, modules and PV glass manufacturers, will be introduced into the base once they meet all the safety and environmental protection requirements of the base, by the local government in following years.
GCLSI expects to achieve a vertically integrated production capacity involving solar cell and related components in the downstream through the completion of this PV production base in Wuhu City. This project is an important step for the company to secure its supply chain as well as its independent production capacity for solar cells. It will promote GCLSI’s overall profitability and comprehensive competitiveness in the photovoltaic industry with sufficient amount of safe and high-quality solar cells and modules.
