PVTIME – On March 23, the CGN Delingha 2GW Solar Thermal Storage Project was officially put into operation in Delingha, Haixi, Qinghai Province, China.
CGN Delingha Solar Energy Co. Ltd.(CGN-DSE), a tertiary subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Group(CGN) as the project implementing agency, signed the Cooperation Framework Agreement with the People’s Government of Qinghai Province for this CGN Delingha 2GW Solar Thermal Storage Project on November 27, 2021. As a leader in the domestic solar thermal power generation industry, CGN-DSE is very delighted to construct, operate and manage this project in Qinghai Province, where is rich with solar irradiation resource and is one of the fastest growing regions for solar power in China.
The project took the advantages of the large-capacity energy storage technology of Delingha 50MW CSP station to be a solar, thermal and storage base with a total installed power generation capacity of 2GW, of which 1.6GW of PV power generation and 0.4GW of photothermal molten salt energy storage system with a energy storage ratio of 25% and energy storage time of 6 hours. The annual electricity generated by this project is designed to reach 3.65 billion kWh.
This project is expected to be a demonstration base for energy storage and peak shaving, and to promote the development of renewable energy in Qinghai Province as well as the achievement of the Dual-Carbon goals in China.
