July 16, BYD Ningbo PV R&D Center opening ceremony was held. The R&D center will make full use of the semiconductor equipments and resources in BYD Ningbo plant to research and test on the production process of crystalline silicon solar cell, which is not only an industry first in China, but also an important strategic initiative of BYD in PV industry. Xia Qun, the deputy director of Ningbo Beilun Free Trade Zone Committee and He Long, the vice president of BYD Company limited attended the opening ceremony and inaugurated for the center’s establishment.
The establishment of the R&D center will greatly integrate BYD’s internal R&D resources and improve the level of BYD’s R&D in the field of PV cells, thus pushing the development of the BYD photovoltaic industry and the whole new energy industry. He Long placed high hopes on the center. He said, “Using semiconductor production equipments to do research and testing on solar cell production is an industry first in China. BYD will integrated the existing equipments and resources to catch up with or even excess the R&D level of PV counterparts at home and abroad on specific fields in the industry. ”
This important strategic movement of BYD has also won the recognition and welcome of the local government. Xia Qun, the deputy director of Ningbo Beilun Free Trade Zone Committee said, “We will fully support BYD as usual, work together with BYD for solving related issues in operation of the center, and committed to improving the investment environment in Ningbo Free Trade Zone, and wish BYD to make a greater contribution to the economic development of Ningbo.”
