Trina Solar to Launch High-efficiency Solar Module Production Base in Baoshan City of China

PVTIME – An investment summit took place in Baoshan City, China, during which Trina Solar and the local government signed an agreement on 3 September 2023 to collaborate on establishing a high-efficiency solar module production base.

This project will fully complete the main photovoltaic industry chain, encompassing silicon, polysilicon, monocrystalline silicon, high-efficiency cells, and modules in Baoshan City, Yunnan Province.

Currently, Baoshan City has become the largest polysilicon production centre in Yunnan Province, with a high-purity silicon project holding an annual capacity of 250,000 MT invested by Tongwei Solar. Additionally, it is the second hub for monocrystalline production, as LONGi launched a 21 GW monocrystalline silicon project. Furthermore, Chint has invested in other major projects, such as a 10 GW high-efficiency cell project. In 2022, green silicon industry in Baoshan City achieved an output value of 36.741 billion yuan, accounting for 34.24% of that in Yunnan Province.
