PVTIME – On 26 February 2024, Canadian Solar announced its intention to build a manufacturing base in Jiangsu Province, China.
The project will start in March 2024 with a total investment of 9.63 billion yuan ($291.69 million). It is planned to reach a production capacity of 14GW of silicon wafers, 14GW of solar cells and 14GW of modules per year in three phases. The payback period is estimated to be 3.15 years after completion of construction.
The project is expected to support Canadian Solar’s production bases in Suqian City, Yancheng City and Yangzhou City. And these bases could share their information, talent and technology to promote the overall performance. Meanwhile, the new project is an important step for Canadian Solar to complete its own supply chain to speed up its mass production of n-type solar products to meet further demand. The overall competitiveness and profitability are expected to maintain its leading position in the solar power industry.
