ABO Wind and Astronergy Jointly Launch 2 PV Plants in Hungary

PVTIME – Recently, two photovoltaic solar power plants launched by ABO Wind via Astronergy’s products became operational in Hungary, with a total capacity to supply more than 40GWh of clean electricity to Hungary every year.

One of the solar plants with an installed capacity of 12.2MW is located in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg. It was connected to the grid in February 2024 and is expected to provide 19.179GWh of safe, reliable and clean electricity to local households every year. ABO Wind, one of the world’s leading developers of renewable energy farms, paid special attention to biodiversity during the construction of the photovoltaic power plant. Local species have been planted under the solar panels to attract birds and insects that can protect the soil. Necessary safeguards, including animal corridors, are in place to ensure that local flora and fauna can thrive. This environmentally friendly construction method not only protects the local ecological environment, but also ensures the sustainable development of the PV power plant.

Another project, the Bicske PV plant, is located in Fejér and has an installed capacity of 14.5MW. It will be connected to the grid in June 2024 and is expected to generate 22.689GWh of renewable energy per year.

As a country highly dependent on traditional energy sources, with fossil fuels accounting for more than 2/3 of the primary energy supply, Hungary had set itself the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. In 2024, the Hungarian government launched the Napergia Plusz programme to promote the use of photovoltaic systems, with subsidies for the installation of PV systems in more than 15,000 households.

Astronergy is very pleased to join forces with ABO Wind to promote the energy transition in Hungary and looks forward to a deep cooperation in the renewable energy industry.
