1GW! Rich PV to Build Solar Module Factory in Serbia

PVTIME – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a solar module factory and photovoltaic power plant was recently signed between the Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, on behalf of the Government of Serbia, and Rich PV, a Chinese solar company engaged in photovoltaic science and technology.

According to the agreement, the two sides will jointly build a solar module production base with an annual production capacity of 1GW in Paraćin, in the central part of the country, and a solar power plant with an installed capacity of 200MW.

An estimated total of €30 million will be invested in the factory over three years, providing 180 jobs for local people. The value of the PV plant is approximately €280 million.

“We want Serbia to increase its energy independence and become a significant player in the production of solar panels as well as hydrogen in our region and Europe,” said Đedović Handanović.
