PVTIME – Recently, Ebon Solar, a US company focused on innovative solar cell technology and manufacturing, joined forces with the Governor of New Mexico to invest US$942 million (€862 million) in a solar cell factory in Albuquerque’s Mesa del Sol Industrial Development Area, an emerging hub for the solar industry.
The new facility is expected to be a key part of the solar module supply chain in the region, meeting the growing demand for solar module assembly facilities in the US. With abundant solar resources, favourable renewable energy policies and a dedicated, skilled workforce in New Mexico, Ebon Solar will produce state-of-the-art solar cells to reduce dependence on energy and solar products, reduce carbon emissions and promote renewable energy.
The project is estimated to be worth nearly $1 billion and will create approximately 900 full-time jobs.
