PVTIME – A solar power plant with an installed capacity of 326 MW has recently commenced operations, following the commencement of operations of the aforementioned plant by Enel North America, a subsidiary of Italian utility Enel.
The project, designated Stampede, is located in Hopkins County, Texas, and encompasses an 86 MW energy storage system that is currently undergoing final commissioning. The project is owned and developed by Enel, with Nestlé providing investment.
Nestlé will procure 100% of the renewable electricity attributes generated by the project’s energy production, which is estimated to be an average of over 522,000 MWh per year for 15 years. It is estimated that the annual reduction in carbon emissions will be approximately 279,000MT of CO2, which is equivalent to the emissions produced by removing approximately 66,000 vehicles from the road annually. Nestlé is the sole tax equity investor in the Stampede solar-plus-storage project, marking a reunion with Enel after their inaugural tax equity agreement in 2023 for the Ganado solar-plus-storage hybrid in Texas. The Stampede project is anticipated to facilitate Nestlé’s objective of sourcing 100% renewable electricity at all its manufacturing facilities by 2025.
