2GW! Solar Plant to Be Launched in Xinjiang of China

PVTIME – Recently, Shenergy, a Shanghai-based energy company, started the construction of a new large-scale solar PV plant in Hebukesai’er region, Tarbagatay prefecture, Xinjiang, China.

The new PV plant, with an installed capacity of 2GW and an energy storage system of 400MWh, is the first project developed by Shenergy in the region. With a total investment of 7.3 billion yuan, the project is expected to be operational in 2025. It is expected to generate 3.259 billion kWh of clean electricity every year, save 1.304 million tonnes of standard coal, reduce the emission of about 97,800 tonnes of sulphur dioxide, 48,900 tonnes of nitrogen oxides, 3.25 million tonnes of carbon dioxide and 887,000 tonnes of carbon dust every year during its operation, with good economic and environmental benefits.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the new energy installation in Tarbagatay Prefecture is planned to be 85.75 million kilowatts, but about 10.58 million kilowatts have been developed, which is 12.34%.
