PVTIME – The first phase of a large-scale industrial silicon factory was recently approved by the local government of Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, China.
This factory is being initiated by a subsidiary of Tongwei, a leading company engaged in the R&D, manufacturing and marketing of solar core products, with a total investment of 5.8 billion yuan. It is planned to produce 360,000 MT of raw materials for industrial silicon production per year. It is estimated to generate an annual value of 8 billion yuan (approximately US$1.14 billion) and a tax payment of 400 million yuan (approximately US$47.04 million), as well as creating approximately 2,000 new jobs. And this first phase will produce 180,000 MT of industrial silicon materials per year, with a total investment of 2.6 billion yuan (approximately US$370.76 million).
