3GW! Perovskite Solar Cell & Module Factory Starts Construction in Chongqing City of China

PVTIME – On 10 October 2024, a production base for perovskite solar products was launched in Chongqing City. With a production capacity of 3GW, the new facility will be the largest perovskite PV manufacturing base in southwest China.

The factory was initiated by a PV&ES company with core R&D from Tsinghua University and Dalian University of Science and Technology. The team has been working on flexible perovskite solar products for many years and has made a number of related research achievements. Its conversion efficiency of 22% on a rigid perovskite single cell with an area of 1.2m*0.6m has been hit recently, while the efficiency of the 65cm² flexible module has successfully exceeded 18%.

The project will be completed in two phases with a total investment of 5 billion yuan to produce 3GW of perovskite solar cells and modules per year. It is estimated to generate an annual output value of more than 6 billion yuan and an annual tax revenue of more than 200 million yuan.
