PVTIME – In October 2024, a high conversion efficiency of 26.23% on perovskite solar cell was achieved by Clean Energy, a China-based high-tech company mainly engaged in production R&D of perovskite solar products.
The 26.23% conversion efficiency was achieved on a perovskite solar cell with a small size of 0.0672 cm2, while another conversion efficiency of 21.1% was achieved on a large size of 11.39 cm2. All these breakthroughs were certified by the National Institute of Metrology, an authoritative third party testing centre in China.
This progress marks an important breakthrough for Clean Energy in promoting the industrialisation of perovskite technology.
As an emerging third-generation photovoltaic technology, perovskite solar cells have attracted widespread attention in the industry due to their excellent conversion efficiency and relatively low manufacturing cost, and are gradually entering the initial stage of large-scale production. However, during the transition from basic research to practical application, it has become a major challenge for researchers to ensure the high efficiency and long-term durability of perovskite solar products in various scenarios. In this regard, through Clean Energy’s tireless efforts, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of large-area perovskite cells has been significantly improved, and significant progress has been made in improving the stability of the devices and ensuring the consistency of the efficiency.
Currently, Clean Energy is building a 10MW perovskite cell pilot line, which will be operational in early 2025, to produce square metre-sized perovskite solar products.
