PVTIME – Recently, Swedish thin-film solar manufacturer Midsummer AB signed a memorandum of understanding with defence and security company Saab to build a turnkey solar cell factory in Thailand with an annual production capacity of 200MW.
The two sides expect to establish a long-term and comprehensive cooperation that will benefit from Thailand’s favourable renewable energy policies as well as many other undisclosed export markets.
The new facility, including equipment and production processes, will be designed by Midsummer, which will own “a small part” of the Thai manufacturing company. And the solar cell factory will produce thin-film products based on Midsummer’s technology.
“We are thrilled to sign this MoU with Saab with the intention to deliver a turnkey solar cell factory to Thailand and later possibly also to other markets,” said Eric Jaremalm, CEO of Midsummer.
