PVTIME – Recently, Canadian Premium Sand Inc. (CPS, TSXV: CPS), a manufacturer of ultra-high clarity solar glass, announced plans to build a new 4GW facility in the US, bringing its total capacity to 10GW per year.
According to the announcement, CPS intends to build a solar PV glass factory. A subsidiary called CPS Glass USA Corp. has been established and the ITC has been filed.
CPS did not disclose the location of the proposed plant, but said it had evaluated sites with existing and underutilised buildings, utilities, logistics infrastructure and environmental permits. The company added that it was in discussions with potential strategic glass manufacturing partners to jointly develop the site.
In addition to this undisclosed US solar glass facility, CPS is also building a 6GW facility in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada. In conjunction with the announcement of the US facility, CPS also announced that it has applied for $100 million in funding to support the construction of the Selkirk facility. The two plants will have a combined capacity of 10GW.
