PVTIME – Ontario-based solar module manufacturer Silfab Solar recently announced a 350MW supply agreement with renewable energy supplier and independent power producer Pivot Energy.
The multi-year partnership is Silfab Solar’s latest module supply agreement as the company prepares to launch its newest, state-of-the-art US manufacturing facility in South Carolina. The new facility will initially produce at least 1GW of US solar cells and 1.3GW of modules.
Silfab Solar will supply Pivot Energy with its latest commercial modules, the 580 XM+, which are expected to roll off the production line at the South Carolina facility later this year. These 350MW of commercial PV modules will be used by Pivot Energy to develop community solar projects across the US.
Silfab Solar said that recent increased demand for its products prompted it to secure $100 million in new financing to expand solar cell production at its nearly 800,000 square foot manufacturing facility in South Carolina. Silfab Solar also operates a 1.1GW module manufacturing facility in Washington.
