PVTIME – China’s latest government work report, revealed on 5 March, outlined the Chinese government’s plans to promote carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

The plans include the launch of the second batch of carbon peak pilot projects and the establishment of zero-carbon parks and zero-carbon factories. China will speed up the construction of a dual control system for carbon emissions and expand the industrial coverage of the national carbon emissions trading market. It will conduct carbon emission accounting and statistics, establish a product carbon footprint management system and a carbon labelling and certification system.
In addition, China will accelerate the construction of new energy bases in desert areas, develop offshore wind power and local consumption and transmission channels.
Pilot demonstrations of low-carbon conversion of coal-fired power will be carried out. The share of non-fossil energy power generation in total power generation is expected to approach 40% by promoting the development and use of new energy, and plans will be formulated to deal with climate change.
This series of measures reflects China’s determination and practical actions to promote sustainable development and address the challenges of climate change.
