PVTIME – A significant development has taken place in Yunnan’s energy sector. YUNNAN YONGCHANG SILICON INDUSTRY CO., LTD., part of Yunnan Energy Investment Group, has successfully launched the 100,000 tonnes per year silicon production plant with energy saving project in Longling County, Baoshan City, China.
This project, with an investment of 1.45 billion yuan, is a game changer. It features six 33,000kVA industrial silicon melting furnaces and advanced equipment. Using a semi-enclosed, low hood furnace process, it is a leader in waste heat recovery. It will reduce CO₂ emissions by 120,000 tonnes per year and has world-class energy efficiency.
Once operational, the project will provide a significant boost to the local economy. It is expected to generate an annual output value of more than 1.5 billion yuan, tax contributions of more than 120 million yuan and the creation of more than 300 jobs. It will also stimulate growth in the nearby logistics and service sectors. This launch marks a major step forward in the integration of green energy and manufacturing in Yunnan.
