We are pleased to share that Joe Pon has been named Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs at Applied Materials. Joe will provide executive leadership for building and enhancing Applied’s global reputation and brand, with responsibility for the corporate communications, community affairs, government relations and corporate marketing communications functions, as well as the Applied Materials Foundation.

Joe began his career at Applied in 1991 and served in a number of communications, government relations and corporate marketing roles before being named Vice President of Corporate Affairs in 2007. From October 2009 to May 2012, he helped lead The James Irvine Foundation, a private foundation dedicated to expanding opportunity for the people of California, as Vice President of Programs overseeing all of Irvine’s philanthropic grantmaking.
A graduate of Claremont McKenna College, Joe has a master’s degree in international relations from the London School of Economics. He was recently named to the Leadership Council of the Public Policy Institute of California and is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum, Silicon Valley.
