Bid Prices for PV Plants in Germany Hit a Record Low

PVTIME – The results of Germany’s latest ground-mounted PV tender were recently announced. The tender saw winning prices ranging from €0.0388/kWh to €0.0495/kWh, with an average volume-weighted price of €0.0476/kWh, the lowest since February 2019.

The planned capacity for this round of bidding is 2.148GW. A total of 524 bids were received for a total capacity of 4,708 MW, which was ultimately oversubscribed by a factor of two. Compared to the previous round, the average winning price was reduced from €0.0505/kWh to €0.0476/kWh, a decrease of around 6%.

According to the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), the rapid development of the photovoltaic market and the cost reductions provide strong support for Germany to achieve its energy transition and emission reduction targets. The announcement of the tender results also proves once again the attractiveness and competitiveness of the German PV market.
