PVTIME – Recently, Chint Solar (Astronergy) successfully connected a 550MW solar farm to the grid. The fishery and PV complementation project is located in Tai Han, Wen Zhou in China. Chint claims the project to be the world’s largest solar farm project built on top of a coastal wetland.
Chint provided the complex project with all components including, transformers, switch gears products, inverters PV modules, and mounting structures. Construction of the project started in March 2021 and took less than 4 months to reach grid connection at the end of June 2021.
Adhering to the concept of “Produce power above, and farm below”, Chint adapted the construction concept to innovatively utilize the wetland area to serve both as a power station and a fishery, increasing economic value. It is estimated that the project will produce an average of 650MWh electricity per year and generate a yearly average revenue of $53 million USD. Compared to coal power generators, the project will offset 235,201 tons of coal and reduce CO2, SO2, NOx by 648,047, 19,500, and 9,750 tons respectively.
