EU’s Largest Floating PV Project Launched by Q Energy and DAS Solar in France

PVTIME – Recently, Q Energy and DAS Solar launched a floating photovoltaic solar power project in Les Ilots Blandin, France, with a total installed capacity of 74.3MW, making it the largest floating PV power plant in the EU.

The plant was initiated by Q Energy France, a subsidiary of Q Energy Solutions, a European green energy provider with accumulated rich experience and advanced technology. The project uses high-efficiency, double-sided solar modules developed independently by DAS Solar. Once operational, it will generate clean and green electricity for approximately 37,000 inhabitants and reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 18,000 tonnes per year, bringing positive impacts to the local economy, environment and society.

Q Energy France and DAS Solar are delighted to share the same vision for renewable energy and the long-term deployment of solar energy around the world. The floating solar system not only avoids the use of land resources, but also reduces water evaporation, improves water quality and effectively inhibits algae growth. At the same time, the cooling effect of the water can significantly improve the power generation efficiency of the power plant. And this special floating photovoltaic system is designed to be environmentally friendly, weather resistant, more convenient for construction, higher power generation and lower LCOE to provide safe and stable electricity to customers.
