Exploring Hanersun’s EPC Success in Pakistan: Insights from a Project Manager

PVTIME – Since established in 2015, Hanersun has spearheaded advancements in solar energy, earning a strong reputation for EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services. With a global business footprint and a team of experts, Hanersun is dedicated to offering clean energy solutions to clients until even now.

Today, we’re speaking with Bardar Kaleem, Project Manager for Hanersun Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd., to learn more about the company’s EPC journey.

Q: Hi Bardar! We’ve heard that the solar market in Pakistan is booming this year. As the EPC manager of Hanersun Pakistan, how do you think about it?

Bardar Kaleem: Good morning! Thank you for inviting me! Yes, the market has grown rapidly, especially in 2024. Rising electricity costs, frequent power outages in rush hour, and the declining cost of solar systems have generated a stacking effect, and drove many businesses to solar energy in Pakistan. Since Hanersun entered the market, we have successfully delivered over 30 projects across Pakistan, ranging from large-scale ground-mounted systems to commercial and industrial rooftops. These projects have not only provided significant economic benefits for our clients but also solidified Hanersun’s reputation as a trustworthy partner in the region.

Q: How long have you been working with Hanersun? What projects have you been involved in?

Bardar Kaleem:I’ve been with Hanersun for almost eight years. As one of the first members to join Pakistan’s EPC team led by the group Chief Engineer, Yong Wang, I’ve worked on projects across Karachi, Lahore, and beyond. Among them, the AJ POWER and SPEL projects in Punjab stand out. These large-scale and technically complex projects presented numerous challenges from initial design to final implementation, but we successfully overcame each of them with solid planning and efficient teamwork.

Q: To my understanding, Hanersun Pakistan has been extremely busy this year. Could you introduce some of our key projects in 2024 and the work your team have done?

Bardar Kaleem: Absolutely, this year has been busy and productive for us. So far, we’ve completed five projects in Pakistan. We’ve commissioned three SPEL projects in Lahore. And the JK Sugar 2MWp project that I participated in has also been successfully connected to the grid recently. For all these projects, Hanersun provided comprehensive EPC services covering design, procurement, and construction, ensuring top-quality execution.

Q: Can you share more about the current project you’re working on?

Bardar Kaleem: Yes! I’m currently working on the JK Dairy project in Rahim Yar Khan. The plan is to expand  the existing 1MWp system with an additional 1MWp. The first phase of the project adopted Hanersun’s HITOUCH 5N 580W monofacial modules, while phase two is set to use HITOUCH 5N 580W bifacial modules. Powered by advanced TOPCon technology, these two type of modules can deliver high efficiency and stable performance, making them ideal for Pakistan’s high-temperature conditions. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate approximately 2,900MWh of clean electricity annually, significantly reducing electricity bill for our client.

Q: Hanersun is known for its innovative technologies. How have these technologies contributed to the success of your projects?

Bardar Kaleem: Exactly, Innovation has always been our core competitiveness. From optimizing module layouts to integrating smart monitoring systems, we continually adopt the latest technologies to enhance project performance. For example, in the SPEL project, we optimized the module layout, which boosted energy output by around 5%. Our smart monitoring systems also ensure long-term reliability while reducing operational costs at the same time.

Q: What feedback have you received from clients?

Bardar Kaleem: The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! Many clients have returned for collaborations repeatly, including operations and maintenance services. By the way, our maintenance management and troubleshooting abilities have also been highly praised by clients.

“Working in Pakistan’s renewable energy sector is both challenging and fulfilling,” Bardar shares. “While many project sites come with unique obstacles, our team remains motivated and passionate. I’m excited to continue contributing to Pakistan’s clean energy transition while growing both professionally and personally.”
