PVTIME – LONGi, the PV giant, recently signed a strategic cooperation with NIO, a leading smart electric vehicle company and the world’s largest operator of smart electric vehicle battery swapping network, to equip NIO’s power swap stations with distributed solar power systems to promote carbon neutrality in transportation and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology.
The two sides have agreed to work together to build integrated power swap stations with solar power, energy storage, charging and swap to promote distributed PV systems on power swap stations.
The new partnership is expected to promote the use of clean energy in the automotive industry, change the main energy source from traditional to solar power, and accelerate the development of intelligent electric vehicles, NIO said.
The first solar power exchange station with LONGi’s Hi-MO X6 HPBC modules built for NIO was commissioned on NIO Day, 23 December 2023. A customised BIPV solution was used to realise this green mobility facility, ensuring ultimate aesthetics, safety and reliability, as well as excellent economics. And it is a remarkable start for LONGi and NIO, which has thousands of energy exchange stations in operation worldwide, to work together on new scenarios for low-carbon travel.
