PVTIME – On February 28th, Jiangsu Seraphim Solar System Co. Ltd. (Seraphim Solar) and Shanxi Lu’An Photovoltaics Technology Co. Ltd. (Lu’An Solar) jointly signed its new factory contract with the Jiangsu Yixing Economic Development Zone committee and presented it at the groundbreaking ceremony. Due to the spread of COVID-19, the ceremony was moderated via the cloud.
The 5GW new module plant, with a total investment of RMB 4.0 Billion (USD 565 Million), will be manufacturing Seraphim’s high efficiency modules. It is an important part of the “2020 Yixing Major Projects to Build a New Energy Industry Highland”. The whole project, with a total investment of RMB 12 Billion (USD 1.70 Billion), is designed to accelerate Yixing’s transformation from traditional fuel energy consumption to green energy production.
Huang Qin, Secretary of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, said that, “with the Lu’An Seraphim 5GW high-efficiency solar module intelligent manufacturing project settled in Yixing, the two parties will cooperate in advancing the renewable energy industry, and upgrade Yixing and Wuxi into highly industrial modern cities. “
It is not the first time that Seraphim Solar and Lu’An Solar has jointly invested in a high efficiency module manufacturing plant. In March 2019, a 1GW module plant was set up in Northern China’s Shanxi Province to mainly produce high-efficiency half-cell modules. Seraphim has considerable experience in the research, development, production, innovation and sales of photovoltaic (PV) products, and has a global module capacity of 5GW. Lu’An Solar is a wholly-owned subsidiaries of Lu’An group, one of the Fortune 500 companies. It also has over 5GW in high efficiency PERC cell capacity.
This new 5GW high efficiency solar module manufacturing plant covers an area of 33.3 Ha and will be constructed in two phases. Upon completion, the plant will generate an average of RMB 8 Billion (USD 1.13 Billion) in annual revenue.
As of today, more than 8GW of Seraphim’s PV modules have been installed in over 40 countries worldwide.
