Maxeon to Provide Warranty Support for SunPowr Solar Panels

PVTIME – Maxeon has stated that it will maintain warranty support for SunPower’s solar products following the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and subsequent asset sale in early August 2024.

SunPower, previously a leading provider of residential rooftop PV solutions, terminated its partnership with Maxeon in 2020. The supply agreement between the two entities was subsequently terminated in 2023. In August 2024, SunPower filed for bankruptcy and entered into an agreement to sell select assets to Complete Solaria for $45 million.

Maxeon has proactively announced on its website that customers may contact Maxeon’s installers for support with SunPower solar systems. Maxeon will address any warranty issues related to SunPower-branded panels manufactured by Maxeon.

In a letter to customers, Maxeon states, “If you own a SunPower residential solar system, the system may include solar panels made by Maxeon Solar Technologies, an independent company.” The company has guaranteed customers that it will provide warranty support for SunPower-branded solar panels manufactured by Maxeon.
