PVTIME – On June 30, the China Media Group officially unveiled the “China ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) 2024 ESG Action Report” in Beijing. The report evaluated 6,471 A-share and Hong Kong-listed companies, selecting 972 for in-depth analysis. It also presented the ESG characteristics and trends of Chinese enterprises. The “China’s Top 100 ESG Pioneer Listed Companies” list for 2024 was the report’s highlight, with Tongwei earning a spot due to its exemplary ESG practices in sustainable governance, climate change response, technological innovation, sustainable supply chain management, and employee development.
The average ESG index of the companies on the list rose to 77.4 points, with 20 companies receiving five-star excellence ratings, a significant increase from 2023. Notably, manufacturing companies made up half of the list, highlighting the sector’s commitment to ESG principles and performance. Alongside Tongwei, 100 notable listed companies such as China Resources Power, China Mobile, and Sinopec are also featured on the list.
Tongwei’s inclusion underscores its role as a benchmark for ESG practices among Chinese listed companies. With a sustainable development mission of “Together to Win,” Tongwei emphasizes the principles of “building together,” “governing together,” and “sharing together.” The company is dedicated to continuous innovation in the ESG domain to support sustainable development. For instance, Tongwei has successfully integrated PV power generation with modern fishery practices, creating the “Fishery + PV” Integration model. This approach, which involves power generation above and fish farming below, has yielded substantial economic, environmental, and social benefits.
Tongwei transforms responsibilities into actions and shapes the future with its achievements. In 2024, Tongwei made significant progress in ESG. In February, it joined the RE100 (100% Renewable Electricity) global initiative as a gold member, committing to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030. In May, Tongwei was listed on the 2024 Fortune China ESG Impact List for its remarkable achievements in sustainable development within the new energy industry. In June, Sustainable Fitch awarded Tongwei an ESG Entity Rating of “2” with a score of “69,” making it the highest-scoring company in the global PV industry. During this year’s Intersolar exhibition, BSI issued Tongwei an independent assurance statement for its ESG reports, an ISO 14064-1 GHG emission verification statement, and an ISO 37301 compliance management system certification.
This recognition further validates Tongwei’s exceptional performance in the ESG field. Reflecting on its 42-year legacy, Tongwei’s vision of a sustainable “better life” remains the driving force behind its development. Looking ahead, Tongwei is poised to embed ESG values more comprehensively, systematically, and orderly into its operations, contributing significantly to global sustainable development.
