Top 10 Global Shipments of Solar Modules in the First Three Quarters of 2024

PVTIME – In terms of shipments in the first three quarters of 2024, there should be no suspense in the top 10 list of global PV module shipments, with Jinko Solar now leading JA Solar by around 10GW with shipments of 67.65GW in the first three quarters, followed by LONGi and Trina with 16GW and 17GW respectively.

JA Solar ranks second in the world with 57GW of shipments in the first three quarters of 2024, and there should be little doubt that it will continue to soar and take second place in global shipments in 2024. After all, JA Solar’s shipments are now some 5GW higher than those of third-placed LONGi, which is still a significant lead.

Competition for third and fourth place in the global module shipments list will be fierce in 2024. According to Trina Solar, its shipments of 50.5GW in the first three quarters ranked fourth in the world, slightly less than LONGi Green’s 51.23GW, with a difference of only 0.83GW between the two.

Jinko Solar, JA Solar, LONGi and Trina Solar remain in the top four in terms of module shipments. Tongwei currently ranks fifth. Tongwei started manufacturing solar modules in August 2022. It was ranked 8th in the world that year, with shipments of 7.94GW. It then ranked 6th with 31.11GW, and 5th in the first half of 2024 with 18.67GW. This shows a steady upward trend.

CHINT/Astronergy has risen to sixth in the world with solar module shipments of 29GW, a relatively rapid development. Astronergy has shipped more than 10GW in a single quarter and is expected to take the lead in annual shipments of 30GW+, which is estimated to be beyond the reach of Canadian Solar and Risen Energy in the short term.

Canadian Solar has been in the top 10 in global solar module shipments for 14 consecutive years, ranking second twice in 2015 and 2017, and in the top five globally for 12 consecutive years. However, Canadian Solar is shifting its attention to overseas markets and energy storage, which are more profitable than solar module production.

GCL SI currently ranks 8th with 17GW of solar module shipments. Risen Energy, DAS Solar and Yingli Solar are in the race for 9th to 10th place with shipments of 14GW to 15GW in the first three quarters of 2024. Competition for the 9th and 10th positions is quite fierce, with a number of companies potentially tying for these positions by the end of 2024.
